Quick answer
  • This reference covers 14 legendary minions with readable official Rein descriptions. It is a documented subset, not every companion in Deskrawl.
  • Compare passive effects and active abilities separately. Unlocking a minion and selecting it for your carriage are different actions.

Legendary companion effects

The names below follow the official English Rein descriptions. “No active ability listed” means the item tooltip lists only passive effects. It does not confirm that the minion has no other behavior in combat.

Turn the list into a collection checklist

Start with the minion panel on your own character and mark the entries that the panel shows as unlocked. An October 8 community reply says the Companions menu shows names before their benefits are available, which explains why a missing entry can be hard to evaluate from the game alone. That reply’s guess that every creature drops Reins is not a complete drop rule.

  • Unlocked: the minion is available in your collection.
  • Selected: it is the companion currently assigned to the carriage.
  • Useful now: its damage type, sustain or defensive effect matches your current activity.
  • Wanted later: keep it on your checklist without stopping all progression to chase it.

For example, a poison character can put Dread Sand Manticore near the top of its wish list, while a mana-starved caster might value Flying Fish King sooner. Those priorities come from the listed effects, not from a promise about how quickly either Rein will drop.

Names that can mislead you

Ice Hound is an especially good reason to read the tooltip: its listed damage passive is Lightning Damage, not Cold Damage. Raptor includes a Damage Over Time bonus as well as critical stats. Serparmat the Devourer’s conditional bonus applies to Bleeding enemies; that is not interchangeable with a general damage bonus.

A minion sharing a creature’s name does not guarantee that its Rein drops from that creature. Check the drop source separately before committing to a farming route.

What to check when an entry is unlocked

Select it in the minion interface rather than waiting for an additional party member to walk beside you. Players in the Companions discussion report that the selected companion replaces the carriage puller. Their question was resolved after noticing that change.

Then inspect the character stats affected by its passive. This is particularly useful for percentage bonuses: a percentage increase to an existing stat should not be confused with a separate heal, attack or status trigger.
