Quick answer
  • Gold Bars introduced in version 1.0.1 sell to merchants for 2,500,000 gold. The announcement names Mythic Rift bosses, Inferno zone bosses and two fishing lakes as sources.
  • For normal progression, decide what your next gold purchase will solve. More gold income alone does not fix an outdated weapon or an unstable farming loop.

Gold Bars: value and named sources

The official 1.0.1 announcement calls Gold Bar a tradable currency item with a merchant value of 2,500,000 gold. That is its in-game vendor value, not a Steam Market price and not guaranteed earnings per run.

ActivityImportant condition
Mythic Rift bossesAccount for Rift entry materials and your clear reliability.
Zone bossesThe announcement specifies Inferno difficulty.
Veldak Sky Lake fishingA chance to obtain the item, not a promised hourly payout.
Cinder Lake fishingSame distinction: access to the loot table is not a guaranteed drop.

If a bar is tradable, selling it to a merchant and keeping it as an item are different choices. Decide which currency or use you need before consuming its in-game value. No market-profit claim follows from the fixed vendor amount.

Spend for the bottleneck you actually have

In the Xp or Gold pots discussion, players disagree because they are solving different problems. One is blocked by upgrade and socket costs; another has gear they cannot yet equip and values EXP. Neither situation proves a single best potion or permanent gold-first allocation for everyone.

Auto-sell can hide the upgrade you need

A launch progression thread gives a concrete warning. A player was still using a common bow while auto-selling uncommon gear. After disabling that filter, they found an upgrade and progressed. The lesson is not “never auto-sell”; it is to keep rarities eligible for pickup while they can still improve a weak slot.

Review the filter after equipment changes. An early setting chosen to earn money can become a reason your damage stops improving.

What about gold from inactive characters?

Players in the September 29 Item drop rates thread suggest creating alternate characters after unlocking the relevant offline-gain Life Skill. Another launch thread describes shared gold and Life Skills. These are community reports, not a verified current payout formula or a reason to promise a fixed daily income.

If you use that approach, check what each character actually receives before planning a purchase around it. Keep client-closed rewards separate from a character actively farming in the background, and do not turn someone else’s account balance into an expected gold-per-hour figure.
