- Rune transmutation recipes were announced in version 1.0.2 on October 8. Hotfix 1.0.2a enabled the service at the Alchemists.
- Each attempt uses nine runes of the same rarity and produces one random rune.
- The result comes from runes usable by the current character’s class; it is not a choice of a specific ability or set piece.
Official transmutation recipes
| Ingredients | Possible result | If it does not upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| 9 Uncommon runes | 50% chance of 1 Rare rune | 1 Uncommon rune |
| 9 Rare runes | 15% chance of 1 Legendary rune | 1 Rare rune |
| 9 Legendary runes | 50% chance of 1 Rune Set rune | 1 Legendary rune |
| 9 Rune Set runes | 1 random Rune Set rune | No higher-rarity result is listed |
The result is random within the rule shown. An unsuccessful rarity upgrade is not described as an empty result: the first three recipes still return one rune of the original rarity. The Rune Set recipe is a reroll within that category, not a route to a named higher tier.
Before you use the Alchemists
Choose the character that needs the result
The announcement restricts results to runes usable by the current character’s class. Use the character you intend to improve.
Separate the runes you want to keep
Do not include a rune supporting your current build merely to reach nine ingredients. Decide which runes you can afford to give up.
Use nine runes of one rarity
Match the recipe’s rarity requirement and check the selected ingredients in the Alchemist service.
Check the random result before repeating
A usable-class result can still be the wrong ability or set piece for your build. Reassess before spending another batch.
The official description names the Alchemists as the service location. It does not provide an additional gold price or a full click-by-click menu path, so use the current in-game confirmation for any displayed cost.
A chance is not a guaranteed schedule
The Rare-to-Legendary recipe has a 15% upgrade chance per attempt. That does not mean one of every seven attempts is guaranteed to upgrade. Likewise, a 50% result is not a promise that alternating attempts will succeed.
Each recipe exchanges nine input runes for one output. That cost can make sense when the inputs do nothing for your setup, but it is a poor reason to sacrifice a rune you already rely on. Judge the batch by the value of what you are giving up, not only the colour you hope to receive.
Can you target a specific Rune Set piece?
Expect a random Rune Set result, not a selected piece. Nine Rune Set runes always produce one random Rune Set rune usable by the current class. The recipe does not promise the missing piece you need, a particular set or protection against duplicates.
Keep that distinction in mind when completing a set: class filtering narrows the result pool, but it does not turn the recipe into a guaranteed choice.
