Deskrawl Thornheart Cuirass: Effect and Health Trade-Off

This is a Thorns-specific effect, not a general increase to every attack your character makes. It is worth evaluating when Thorns is part of the build’s damage plan. If that is not how your character deals damage, the large percentage alone is not a good reason to lose health.

The health cost is particularly important when an encounter already ends in a sudden hit. Compare the full item against your current chest, including ordinary attributes, rather than judging it by the Thorns line alone.

Launch players also discuss an ordinary Legendary Thornheart Cuirass in early Warrior builds. A September 29 reply reports the same 500% Thorns boost and 15% Max Health loss. Treat the item version separately: those early drops are not evidence that the level-70 Black Mist piece has a lower requirement.

A July demo discussion quotes a 20% health penalty instead. Do not carry that older number over to the Black Mist tooltip above. The versions and dates matter more than a remembered build description.

In full-game Warrior discussions, players pair Thornheart with health and Armor investment and describe it as an important part of their early Thorns setups. That is a community build approach, not a promise that equipping the chest will solve every boss.

Ask two questions before replacing your chest: does Thorns contribute enough to justify the item, and can the character survive after the health penalty? If the second answer is no, a larger theoretical damage bonus will not fix the run.

A full-game player reported finding it from various bosses around their progression level, but could not remember the original exact source. That is not enough to name a guaranteed boss or a minimum drop level.
